热带地区的森林砍伐也能影响到世界上其他地方的气候. NASA的一项2005年的研究发现南美亚马逊地区的森林砍伐对从墨西哥到德克萨斯州的降雨产生了影响,然而,中非森林的丧失影响了美国中西部的上部或较低地区的雨型的划分.同样地,东南亚的森林采伐会影响到中国和巴尔干半岛的降雨.
